Create a Timesheet Mini Activity III

Objectives: The Learner will be able to: 1. Enter data into a Spreadsheet 2. Use AutoFill with labels, data and formulas 3. Format Cell Borders and Contents 4. Calculate the total across the rows 5. Calculate the total for each column

1. Open a new Excel document and save it to your folder as Excel Practice III. Begin creating a time sheet. In Cell A1 type: Monday. Use the AutoFill handle to add Tuesday through Friday. Place your pointer at the bottom corner of the cell and drag horizontally. AutoFill will automatically fill in the blank cells.

2. Calculate the Total: Enter in data and calculate the totals. In cells A2 through E2, enter an estimated amount of hours that you were present in school each day last week.

2b. Calculate the Total: Enter in data and calculate the totals. Calculate the total number of hours in school: In Cell F2 create the equation: =Sum(A2:E2). You can type this directly into the cell or use the fx function bar on top.

2c. Calculate the Total: Enter in data and calculate the totals. In cells A3 through E3, enter an estimated amount of hours that you were present in school each day of the following week. Use the AutoFill handle to fill down the equation in F2 to F3. This will fill in the total of hours for week two.

3. Calculate the Daily Total: Find out how often you were in class on each day for the two weeks. In Cell A4 create the equation: =Sum(A2:A3). Use the AutoFill handle to fill down that equation to F4.

4. Format the cells: Label the titles and align cells. Make the labels Bold. Align all of the text - Centered, in the middle of the cells. Add borders around the cells in order to create a table  Highlight all cells, RT click and find Format Cells  Borders Tab.

5. Lesson Reflection REFLECTION: Mini Lesson III: Creating a Timeline 1.What is the purpose of AutoFill? 2.What equation do you use when you want to find a total?

6. Save the newly formatted spreadsheet. You are done with Mini Lesson III! Stop here. Raise your hand and have your teacher check your work before moving on to Mini Lesson IV. Great job!
