Contents Description of Task Description of Question Evaluation of Answers Differences found in answers Reasons for these differences References

Description of task During the presentation of the analysis results a significant difference was found among answers of students from different countries in question 3.1 about how to act regarding internet rights violations.

Description of Question 3.1 Someone has posted a photograph of you from a party last weekend onto a public profile. You are lying on the floor with an empty bottle of vodka next to you. Over 50 people have commented on the photo, what should you do? - Nothing, you weren’t drinking, your friends had set the photo up. - Contact the person who uploaded the photo and ask him/her to remove it - Contact the site administrator and insist that the photo be removed - it must surely violate the terms and conditions anyway - You’ve got some interesting photos of the friend who uploaded the offending photo, post that and ensure that everyone knows it is there.

Evaluation of answers The group believes that asking the uploader to remove the photo is the best idea because we’d like to avoid trouble as much as possible. If contacting the uploader does not work, we would contact the website administrators and request that the photo is removed. If that fails we would consider contacting the police. We do not believe that it’s necessary to cause trouble by uploading an ‘interesting’ photo. Finally, not reacting to the incident would probably indicate that you don’t really care about it at all.

Differences found in answers There is a significant difference between answers of students from different countries in question 3.1 about how to act when your rights are violated The best answers were given by students from Austria, average answers from Greece, Poland and Sweden and less right answers from Norway.

REasons for the differences found The reasons why there is a difference between the results from each country is the lack of education regarding internet rights. We don’t have any information regarding Austria, but we believe that the rest of the results are based on how much attention has been paid to the matter. For example, in the Greek and Polish schools there have been a few lectures regarding the matter. In Sweden there is some general knowledge regarding the matter. However in Norway there haven’t been any lectures and most of the knowledge comes from spending time online.
