1 Robots Describe the process to get ready – The physics and math Describe the tug of war challenge and rules – After being started, a robot must wait at least 5 seconds before moving. During this time it will announce it’s name. – Brick has to pull straight for 5 seconds then it can do maneuvers. – No demo derby. – Arms and or drags can be used after 5 seconds – Robot may adjusted between pulls. – A tie winner will be determined by who moved the farthest from the center line. If not decided then a flip of the coin determines who won. – Other rules

5 Robots Your choice Would your robot be better if you made it: heavier or lighter? longer or shorter? wider or narrower? taller or shorter? with 1, 2 or more motors? With more or less wheels? In fact, do you need any wheels at all? Levers and drags – think about how they might be used to you avantage or to you determent by the competition. (counter measure)

6 Possible additional rules: If any part of a robot crosses the centerline, or any part comes off a robot, that robot loses that round. If, after 1 minute, no robot has crossed the centerline, the round is to be considered a draw. A robot must win 2 out of 3 trials. In the case of a draw, where neither robot is successful in pulling the other across the line, the winner is determined by holding a tie-breaking round. In this round, the winner is determined by measuring the distance of each robot from the centerline at the end of the time limit. The robot closest to the line loses. Robots must oniy contain parts from one kit set.
