Security is your number one responsibility All materials must be stored in a locked area Security affidavits must be READ and completed by everyone with access to the testing materials Emphasize no electronic devices allowed Be prepared for a visit from the state auditors

 At randomly selected LEA offices and schools  Before, during, or after testing  Key Questions: ◦ Are testing materials secure, accounted for, and locked up when not in use? ◦ Are correct administrative procedures being followed? For example: Instructional materials have been removed or covered in testing classrooms. Students are not being coached through the exams. Only appropriate Universal Tools, Designated Supports, and Accommodations are being provided. No unauthorized electronic devices are being used.

 Inventory materials when you receive them  Deliver CAPA materials to Examiners as soon as they are received  Secure test materials – find a locked area for storage  Train examiners. Be sure to keep a sign-in sheet (this may be required for auditing purposes)  Ensure examiners READ and sign affidavits to be retained by you, the CAASPP test site coordinator  Prevent test administration errors  Verify test materials are marked correctly to ensure correct student scores  Return materials promptly to the LEA CAASPP Coordinator

 Notify parents of testing  Notify tutors, volunteers, etc. of testing schedule Note: Parent volunteers are not allowed to administer a test or help organize/distribute/collect materials.

 Prepare materials: ◦ Test booklets ◦ Answer Documents ◦ No. 2 pencils ◦ Scratch paper ◦ Signs (Example: No Unauthorized Electronic Devices)  Confirm which test(s) each student takes.  Confirm any Universal Tools, Designated Supports, and Accommodations students will use and where they will be tested.

New this year – The term “individualized aid” has been replaced with “unlisted resources.” A special approval from CDE is required (Sites will need to request an Unlisted Resources Request Form, fill it out, we will submit it to CDE and they will approve or disapprove in approximately 3 days)

 READ and sign security affidavits.  Emphasize NO unauthorized electronic devices.  MAKE SURE CORRECT TESTS ARE ADMINISTERED.  Note: ─ Students who are not testing may not stay in the classroom where a test is being administered. ─ If students need to be taken to another room to finish testing, BE SURE THEY ARE ESCORTED BY TEST SITE STAFF. Do not allow students to walk to another room with test materials by themselves.

 Examiners CANNOT: ◦ Review test questions before, during, or after testing. ◦ Check students’ answers including (but not limited to):  Advising students of wrong answer or checking answers; or  Withholding answer documents until students demonstrate they have the right answers.

 Examiners shall monitor students throughout testing to make sure students are: ◦ On the correct part. ◦ Not going on to other parts or back to a previously completed part. ◦ Not skipping a question on their answer document (so that they are off by one or more). ◦ Not using unauthorized electronic devices during the testing session. ◦ Examiners must ensure there is enough time to complete a part before beginning the part.

Sign for outside the classroom

 Use Directions for Administration (DFAs) correctly. ◦ Read ALL “SAY” boxes exactly as written. ◦ ONLY translate boxes with “T” (NO CST/CMA questions, prompts, or passages may be translated). ◦ Check names on test booklets and answer documents before distributing to make sure students receive correct documents.

 Note: ◦ All students must complete box number 1 of the answer document, even if Pre-ID was used. ◦ Students should mark the correct test version number.

 Breaks: ◦ Give breaks only at end of a part as indicated by stop sign. ◦ Individual students may use restroom during test: Collect materials Monitor student ◦ Some students may be allowed supervised breaks (IEP, 504, ELs)

 CMA for Science in grades 5 and 8  CMA for Life Science in grade 10  Student must have an IEP that designates that he/she takes the CMA for Science.  Examiners should check to be sure the student is taking the CMA instead of the CST. 26  Only the CAPA for Science will be administered in grades five, eight and ten. There will be no Level II.  This is a one-on-one test for students with significant cognitive disabilities unable to take the CSTs even with Universal Tools, Designated Supports, and Accommodations.  Student must have an IEP that specifies CAPA and CAPA Level.  CAPA must be administered by a Certificated or Licensed employee.

Use only 2016 CAPA answer documents. Ensure correct CAPA Level is marked in box 6a.

 Districts must double-rate a minimum of ten percent (10%) of the CAPA students per level, per site (including Non Public School)  Students to be double-rated are randomly selected and will be coordinated by Jodi Payne.  Observers must mark Observer, and BOTH examiner and observer must sign their separate answer documents.

 Paperwork: ◦ Complete back of student answer documents. ◦ Transcribe voided answer documents. ◦ Complete School Grade Identification (SGID) sheet.  Packing: scorables and nonscorables ◦ All answer documents that have been completed get packed in the scorable box(es).

 Train examiners to: ◦ Erase NOTHING in answer circles.

Avoid teaching students to mark through answer circles to eliminate answers. Such marks MAY NOT be erased by adults.

A1: DO NOT complete A2: Special Conditions: (example: absent/parent opt out) If student does not use a support in their IEP then mark X. A3: Accommodations and Modifications Part A: Mark “IEP” and/or “Section 504 plan” if student has any Universal Tools, Designated Supports, and Accommodations listed in their IEP/504 for Science.  Note: IEP is required to take the CMA or CAPA. All CMA students must have IEP bubbled in Section A3. Part B: Only mark codes for all Universal Tools, Designated Supports, and Accommodations that the student used as specified in their IEP and/or 504 plan. A4: English Learner Test Variations A, B, C or D must be bubbled if students use these variations. Must be used on a regular basis in the classroom.

A3: Accommodations and Modifications  A4: English Learner Test Variations ◦ For each test, mark what was actually used by the student

Box 7 Assessed with: ◦ On the front of the answer document, be sure CST Science or CMA Science is marked (bubbled) appropriately in Box 7

Measuring the Power of Learning.™ No need to make any annotations in TOMS. Just complete the online form and we will do the rest! 1.Complete this form: http://goo.gl/forms/cCTTcy41Zo 2.Mail copy of parent letter to Testing 3.Keep original on file at your site

Transcribe: ◦ Braille and large print (or not processed) ◦ Be sure Section A3 of the student answer document is marked (bubbled) appropriately ◦ Damaged answer documents  Write VOID on the front of damaged answer document(s) and return with non-scorables ◦ Only use #2 pencils

 Complete one SGID for CST/CMA documents and one SGID for CAPA.  Check counts to be accurate; include documents of students not tested with reason why in A2.  Place SGID sheet on top of answer documents  Must be alphabetized

 An answer document must be returned for students enrolled on your first day of testing and designated to take one of the following tests (even if not tested): ◦ CST for Science ◦ CMA for Science ◦ CAPA for Science  Return answer documents for students with special conditions identified in Section A2.

 Must return all CAPA Examiner’s Manuals with non-scorables  Must return all test booklets  Must return all scratch paper (or shred)  Note: If only the cover or portion of the test booklet is returned, this will be considered a security breach
