5 Conservation of Energy with springs: Example #1: –A shopping cart with a student sitting in it has a mass of 80kg. It travels along a flat level low-friction surface (assume none!) and collides head on with a spring. The spring has a spring constant of 15500N/m. If the spring is compressed by 6 meters how fast was the cart travelling?

9 Example #2: –A 200kg mass oscillates on a frictionless surface while attached to a spring with a spring constant of 500N/m. The amplitude of oscillation is 2 meters. A) What is the maximum velocity of the mass?
