“Los” means “Let’s go!” in German. This will be the second activity of every class. Sometimes it will involve writing, othertimes it may simply ask you to have your homework out or to recall yesterday’s lesson.

Please take out your homework!

We will share our symbols as a class. Remember to respect every individual. You will create a LOS section of your notebook. This will require a divider. On the first page of the LOS section, copy this prompt and date it: “Sept. 4: The most creative or well- thought-out symbol belonged to ________ because ____________. Other good symbols were ___ (name three).” “Sept. 4: The most creative or well- thought-out symbol belonged to ________ because ____________. Other good symbols were ___ (name three).”

TED Talk

Please write these questions and your responses on the back of your Biology symbol. If you did not do the homework, use a half sheet of paper. 1. What motivated Bart to do this work? 2. Does his work fit into any of the representations of Biology we looked at?

“Wordle Assignment” Wordle is a tool used to create “word clouds” from given text. Words that appear more frequently in the text will be greater in size. You can edit your clouds with various fonts, layouts, and color schemes. For this assignment, you will use Wordle (http://www.wordle.net/) to create a name- plate to help me get to know who you are and where your interests lie. Your plate should include the following:http://www.wordle.net/ 1. Name : Your name should be the largest in size – be sure to type it in multiple times. The more often a word appears, the larger it will be in the final product. 2. Who You Are : You must have a minimum of 20 characteristics or terms that best describe you. Be sure to enter your words according to the level of prominence. All words should NOT be of the same size. 3. Final Copy : Print out your final copy and glue it onto a piece of colored construction paper to create a border. Cut it to its shape.

We will read the course syllabus together. Your job is to stop me with a raised hand and ask questions, now and any time during this semester, if something is unclear about class content. If I don’t know the answer, I will find it!

 Find the two other people you grouped with yesterday.  Introduce yourselves again, if needed.  Discover 2 things you have in common.  Discover one thing unique about each.  Determine who will be the REPORTER and report your findings to the class.  POSTER? Similarities and Differences

(For Monday!) 1. Create a WORDLE about you! 2. Return signed Syllabus forms. 3. Bring notebook with paper and dividers, as well as pencil or pen.
