5 Standard of Living vs Quality of Life standard of living: the quality and quantity of goods and services available and how they are distributed a high standard of living means that there is a high quality and quantity of goods and services available to support living. Standard of living is an indicator of quality of life GDP is used as an indicator for Standard of Living

16 Collective Consumerism Collective consumerism can be an effective way for consumers to influence the production, cake or distribution of a product.

17 Boycotts Boycotts happen when groups of people encourage the public not to buy certain products in order to draw attention to the issue about which they are concerned.

18 Examples of Boycotts PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) encourages people not to eat at a certain fast food restaurant because of the way the chickens it uses in its meals are slaughtered. To only support locally made products.

20 CTV PETA- Animal rights group. It believes to stop consumerism we must change our ways. Don’t drink milk to stop the sale of veal. Only buy products that are proven to treat animals with respect. Do not support films or shows that use animals for entertainment.

21 More examples of boycotts Greenpeace boycotting oil and gas products. (crowd protest at major event) Boycotting cosmetics that does animal testing by not buying the products. Human rights activist boycott products from countries that continue to have poor human rights in their country.
