3 What does this application do? FamilyCare offers a secure, highly customizable interface for communicating with family members, providers and organizations; networking; locating and utilizing resources; sharing and receiving family health records; and organizing appointments and schedules. Life can be full of surprises. That’s why it’s valuable to have a single, integrated application that lets families and individuals quickly and easily access the people, information, and resources they need to best manage their short and long-term healthcare.

4 How does it use Windows Live API and other technologies? Utilizing the Live Messenger API (240 million users), Live ID, Live Alerts, and other technologies, FamilyCare enables users to: Expand on contacts lists (friends and family) Connect with healthcare providers (doctors, dentists, therapists) Communicate via IM, video or telephone Access, share and store family health records Utilize services (setup appointments, fill prescriptions) Research and map healthcare providers and resources Set up calendars/schedules (ping to take medicines, check blood, etc.) Network with people experiencing similar health issues Receive alerts and information from the Web Utilize bots to get useful information (i.e. warning signs of heart attack)

6 Your daughter, who has a severe allergy to peanuts, had some banana bread containing peanuts… 1. You receive an alert on your cell phone from your daughter’s teacher that she’s being taken to an emergency room 2. You IM your husband and your daughter’s physician 4. New to the area, you use Virtual Earth to locate and map the emergency room 5. Your daughter’s physician also forwards her records so they can be updated with the care she’s receiving. 6. You IM your neighbor to see if she can watch your son. She’s not on line, but presence “forwards” the message. 3. HealthVault/CardSpace is used to immediately relay information to the attending physician. 7. Through FamilyCare, you order your daughter’s prescription 8.
