1 Louvain-la-Neuve SCIENCE PARK  HISTORY 1968: Transfer of the French-speaking section of the Catholic University of Louvain (UCL) 1971: 150 ha are allocated for the setting up of a science park  1st science park created in Belgium (total area later extended to 231 ha) Objectives: to develop cooperation between the industry and the University to ensure diversification of Louvain-la-Neuve to contribute to the regional development of the Walloon Region Transfer of the French- speaking University 1968197119721976197920012003200520112012 21/01/1971: Creation of the science park 1 st company settling in the science park (Monsanto) Creation of the UCL Research Admin Take off of the park with 7 companies present 100 companies and 4,000 direct employees Creation of the SPoW network Opening of the incubator (CEI) 160 companies and 5,150 direct employees 2 nd incubator (CEI2)

2 Louvain-la-Neuve SCIENCE PARK  AN IDEAL LOCATION LLN Science Park RER (“réseau express régional”) operating in a few years will accommodate very fast connections to Brussels Railway & highway facilities providing direct connections towards Luxembourg, Germany, France and the Netherlands Ideally located 30 km south-east of Brussels, heart of the European institutions Connections to Airports: Brussels International : 25’ by car Brussels-South Charleroi: 45’ by car
