2. Purpose:  MRI is a scanning technique that allows your doctor to see areas of your body without the use of x-rays. With a large magnet and radio frequencies, we can provide detailed images of internal body structures.  MRI is considered an extremely safe procedure for most people, but because of the high magnetic field and radio frequencies there are some people who cannot have an MRI

3. Before you arrive:  Please plan on arriving 15 minutes before your examination. If you do not arrive on time it is possible that it may need to reschedule your study for another day.

4. When you arrive:  The receptionist will ask you to fill out the MRI data sheet/ questionnaire.  For your safety, you will be asked questions concerning implants and metals by technologists and physicians.  You will also be asked to remove ALL jewelry, watches, hair clips, dentures, glasses and hearing aides. It may be easiest if you wear as few of these items as possible.  You will be asked to place all items including your credit cards and wallet into a locker and change into a patient gown.

5. Your Scan:  The MRI technologist will help you on the scan table and position you for the exam. The table will slide into a cylinder shaped unit.  There is an intercom system so that you can hear and talk to the technologist who is operating the scanner.  During the exam you will hear a knocking sound, which is when you need to hold perfectly still. The study takes 30-60 minutes depending on the type of scan required.  The scan is very sensitive to motion. If you move even a little during the scan, the entire scan may need to be repeated.

6. IMPORTANT!  Please tell the technologist if you have any of the following in place:  Cardiac pacemaker  ICD (implantable cardioverter defibrillator)  Cochlear ear implant  Metal fragment in or near eyes  Metal prosthesis of joints  Pregnancy  Aneurysm clips

8. الرنين المغناطيسي الرنين المغناطيسي هو جهاز يستخدم مجال مغناطيسي قوي بدلا من الأشعة لتصوير أنسجة الجسم و إعطاء صورة واضحة و مفصلة لها. و هو يتميز عن الأشعة العادية فى قدرته على إظهار الأنسجة الرخوة مثل العضلات و الأربطة و الأوتار.. حيث أن هذه الأنسجة لا تظهر فى الأشعة العادية.

9. خطوات فحص التصوير بالرنين المغناطيسي  وضع المريض على منضدة الفحص في الوضع المطلوب بواسطة فني الأشعة وكذلك يثبت جهاز سطحي حسب العضو المراد تصويره  يمكن وضع سدادة للأذن في حالة انزعاج من الصوت الصادر من الجهاز بعد انتهاء الفحص ينتظر المريض لفترة وجيزة حتى يتم مراجعة الصور الناتجة

10. يجب الالتزام بالآتي :  على المريض الحضور قبل موعد الفحص ب 15 دقيقه  السكون والارتخاء التام - سماع التنبيهات خلال الفحص حبس النفس والسؤال عند اللزوم.  كذلك يجب أن يخلع المريض ملابسه ويلبس رداء خفيف خاص بالفحص وأن يترك المريض أية أشياء معدنية مثل : الحلي والساعة. دبابيس الشعر. المفاتيح والعملات المعدنية. النظارات. وسائل السمع

11. بعض الأسئلة التي يجب أن يسألها الطبيب للمريض قبل الفحص بالرنين المغناطيسي هل أجريت جراحة بالجمجمة؟ هل أجريت جراحة بالقلب؟ هل يوجد أجسام صناعية داخل جسمك؟ هل تضع منظم لضربات القلب؟ هل تضع مسامير أو دعامات؟ هل يوجد دبابيس جراحية؟
