5 Program Structure Cohort: KCPS students (10 th – 12 th grades) Training: Start Saturday March 29 – End Saturday May 3 Internship positions in various career fields Internship: 8-week (June – July) 40 hours per week [$10 per hour] Student checkpoints with KCPS staff Student and business 8-week evaluation March 28, 2014 – Business Breakfast Briefing Architecture Engineering Banking Government Health Services Insurance Manufacturing Education

6 Recruitment Process E LIGIBILITY R EQUIREMENTS Current KCPS student 2.0 overall GPA minimum Grade Levels 10 th – 12 th 90% or higher school attendance No more than 1 OSS or 2 ISS incidences (current school year) 1)A PPLICATION 2)E SSAY 3)I NTERVIEW 4)F AMILY O RIENTATION

7 11 Training Sessions Opening Session:Orientation, Review of Procedures, Introduction to culminating project – resume, cover letter, recommendation letter, and personal statement. Punctuality:Understanding time, planning and employer expectations for promptness and regularity Attitude:Gaining opportunities, creating options and having fun Hope:Confident expectation of a favorable outcome Interest:Show interest through curiosity, problem-solving and thoughtful questions Self-Respect:Habits of thinking and behaving and self-motivation Achievement:The value of work, expectations of the workplace and the value of little things done well Respect for Others:Making positive impressions while adding value Civility:Courtesy, self-control and business etiquette Cleanliness:Attire and Mentality Ending Session:Submission of culminating project, feedback, mock Interview, closing ceremony
