Together we have the power to change the world

What do you think Human Rights means?

It is the right for all human beings to be treated equally and fairly

In 1947 all countries in the United Nations signed the “Universal Declaration for Human Rights” (That’s all the countries in blue)

These rights aim to create a world built on justice, freedom, respect and dignity for all

Our Human Rights include: Freedom and Equality Education Equal Opportunities Right to be ourselves without judgment Basic standard of living including food, clothing, housing and healthcare.

Human Rights affect everyone, in every country, all over the world

But the good news is, we have made some BIG changes…

All around the world more women and girls are learning to read and write The number of people living in extreme hunger has decreased Improvements in maternal and child health have reduced maternal mortality rates and women’s health The infection rates of deadly diseases such as HIV/AIDS and malaria have decreased Life expectancy has more than doubled in the last 100 years

The world is getting better, but its not getting better for everyone… Nearly half the world’s population, 2.8 billion people, survive on less than $2 a day

We are the people who have the power to change the future for the better. The first step is to create awareness Awareness leads to discussion… which leads to action.. which leads to change So join us at the cineseeds film festival, and you too can help raise human rights awareness

Ernest & Celestine Junior Audiences aged 5 to Adult Ernest & Celestine is a story of finding friendship where you least expect it and defending that friendship against discrimination and prejudice. Young Celestine is an artistic mouse who befriends a musical bear, Ernest. But contact between the world of mice and the world of bears is strictly forbidden. This hand-drawn, French animated film is a heart-warming tale of cross-cultural friendship that appeals to adults and young children alike.

Girl Rising Senior Audiences aged 12 to Adult Girl Rising is a call to everyone, male or female, to take a stand for girls education. With 33 million fewer girls than boys in primary school, and 66 million girls out of school globally, Girl Rising uses the power of storytelling to share a simple truth: that educating girls can transform societies. It mixes documentary and narrative filmmaking to show how education lifted nine girls from poverty. Narrated by A-list stars including Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway and Selena Gomez, the film is part of a broader movement to help ensure that girls everywhere get an education.
