3. THIS WEEK IN SEISMIC NEWS… 12 earthquakes of a magnitude of 4.0 or greater have occurred this week, with two of a 5.0 magnitude. Last week, 5 earthquakes greater than a 4.0 were within the centralized boundaries of (-30.1794 to - 33.2120), (-71.6311 to -72.3568), just north of Santiago, Chile on the oceanic Nazca plate. This week, 5 earthquakes were within -29.6390 to -32.1033 degrees south, -71.7623 to -72.0677 degrees west. These occurred at relatively shallow depths ranging between 22.34 and 27.24 km.
