16 College of Direct Support How to use the CDS MHM Training Modules: Step 1: Review the training plan. Step 2: Customize the plan to meet needs. Step 3: Build staff reward program for module completion. Step 4: Create a completion timeline (30, 60, 90 day, etc.) for each module Step 5: Use built in competency measures to assess skill development

17 College of Direct Support Step 6: Assign learning modules to frontline supervisors and managers, first, and then to direct support professionals Suggested Prerequisite for supervisors: Professional Development for Supervisors (approximately 10 hours of training) College of Frontline Supervision and Management (CFSM) Course: Orientation and Training- Lesson 1 – 5 Course: Fueling High Performance - Lesson 1 – 5 Step 7: Reinforce learning by using facilitated discussion groups - discuss how content can be incorporated into daily practice.
