1 Offensively, Preemptively, Defensively, Extraordinarily
Prayer Strategies Offensively, Preemptively, Defensively, Extraordinarily

2 Praying Offensively (ch 26)
Pray for the expansion of the Kingdom; the gospel – light, love, & truth. It is praying “for” not just “against.” Example is the Model Prayer (Matt 6:10 – 11) Thy kingdom come; Thy will be done…; Give us this day… Spiritual warfare is standing against the enemy and taking new ground for the kingdom. Don’t just pray against hardship & sickness, but pray for blessings & health. Offensive Prayer Models: Philippians 1:9:11, Col 1:9 – 12, 3 John 2 Pray both offensively and defensively – “Stand on the Word of God when under attack, but also ask God specifically for good things to happen in your life and in the lives of others “ (p. 163).

3 Praying Preemptively (ch 27)
Pray before you do anything – the decision, the action, the follow-through, the results. Examples of Preemptive Prayers “Do not bring us into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.” (Matt 6:13) “Keep watching and praying that you don’t fall into temptation…” (Matt 26:41) Know how the enemy attacks,”… lest Satan should take advantage of us; for we are not ignorant of his devices” (2 Cor 2:11), then pray specifically: Distraction: “I’m restless in my complaint and am surely distracted because of the voice of the enemy.” (Ps 55:2-3) Deception: “He [Satan] speaks from his own nature, for he is a liar and the father of lies.” (John 8:44). Derision: “…for the accuser of our brethren, who accused them before our God day & Night…” (Rev 12:10) Division: “If a house is divided against itself, that house will not be able to stand.” (Mk 3:25)

4 Praying Defensively (ch 28)
Pray as an equipped believer – using the full armor – “ With all prayer and petition pray at all times in the spirit.” (Eph 6: ) Strategically R.E.S.P.O.N.D when under attack by the enemy: RESIST in the name of Jesus . “Resist the devil and he will flee from you” James 4:7 ESCAPE with scripture. Trust and use an appropriate verse that deals with the specific temptation or deception at hand (Matt 4:1-11) SEARCH for unconfused sin. “See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting” (Ps 139:24, NIV). PLEAD the blood of Jesus. God is faithful to forgive and wash us from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:7-9) OVERTAKE ground given to Satan. Jesus disarmed Satan, so don’t give play to thoughts (Col 2:8-15). NAME someone in targeted prayer. Intercede for someone else (Eph 6:17 -19). DELIGHT in the Lord. “And now my head will be lifted up above my enemies around me”. (Ps 27:6)

5 Praying Extraordinarily (Ch 29)
Unexpected moments that require intense, drop everything prayer – people coming together to pray. David said, “I sought the Lord in my day of trouble. My hands were continually lifted up all night long” (Ps 77:2 HCSB). Extraordinary prayer is a team effort; corporate prayer & fasting. Esther’s actions to save the Jews – they fasted and prayed (Esth. 4:16) After Jesus’ ascension, the 11 gathered in the upper room to pray “with one mind,” “continually devoting themselves to prayer” (Acts 1:14). Peter’s release from prison came from praying “fervently by the church to God” (Act 12:5). Individual fasting and fervent prayer is magnified when united with others in faith and on one accord (James 5:16). Extraordinary prayer can yield extraordinary results.

6 Pray – Pray - Pray Strategically Pray
Speak The Word and hide it in your heart Humble Your mind and body Activate Your faith, belief & trust in God Listen Know and hear His voice Obey Follow the instructions & guidance received during prayer Meditate On His glory and fulfilled promises We gain peace (Hebrew word “Shalom”) when we have confidence in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will He hears us (1 John 5:14). ** SHALOM prayer acronym was created by Sharon Kelley and is not apart of the Battle Plan book.
