4 How to Apply Applied before? Use your log-in details. New to SAAS? You need to register

5 What can I apply for? Tuition fees (which are paid directly to the college.) SAAS Bursary Student Loan Additional Grants. You must apply for your funding every year.

6 What you need when applying Your National Insurance Number. Passport (if you have one). Bank account details. Details of household* income (if under £34,000). * Household income is the combined income of your unearned income (Working Tax Credits or benefits) and your parents or husband, wife, civil partner or partner.

7 Tuition Fees Study in Scotland- free tuition fees if eligible. Study elsewhere in UK - pay up to £9000 each year or use Student Loan. EU students - fees only.

Young Student Under 25 before the start of your course You do not have a child of any age dependent on you You have not supported yourself from earnings or benefits outside full-time education for any 3 years You are not married, in a civil partnership or living with a partner Independent Student Over 25 before the start date of your course Or Have a child of any age dependent on you Supported yourself from earnings or benefits outside full- time education for any 3 years Married, in a civil partnership or living with a partner

11 Student Loan Facts Start repaying the April after graduation or the April after leaving course. Repay 9% of annual income over £17,335. Employer takes repayments from salary. www.studentloanrepayment.co.uk

12 Additional Grants Lone Parent Grant (£1,305). Dependents’ Grant (£2,640). Disabled Students’ Allowance (not normally paid directly to you). Vacation Grant for Care Leavers.

13 Evidence you will need If applying for bursary and loan over £4,750 you need proof of 2015/16 household Income e.g. 2016 P60, Working Tax Credits, Self-Employment assessment. Proof of lone parent status e.g. Tax Credit Award Letter, Council Tax bill

14 Important! SAAS will guarantee to assess your application by the start of your course if you complete your form with no mistakes and submit all evidence to SAAS by 30 th June 2016. Make sure your contact email is up-to-date with SAAS. Use the document uploader on the SAAS website. Updating address/ bank details: use the SAAS portal. Need to change something on your form: use the ‘contact us’ section of the SAAS website DO NOT put off your application. The sooner you apply the sooner you know what financial support you will receive.
