3 THE SWITCH IS ON!!! To Electronic Health Records This program will train health care and information technology professionals to be part of the country’s conversion to electronic health records. The Bureau of Labor and Statistics estimates that approximately 50,000 qualified health information technology workers will be needed by 2015. THE SWITCH IS ON!!! 5  Enrollment opportunities twice a month  Geared to students who already possess some of the competencies needed:  Education or Experience in Healthcare or Information Technology  To be completed in a maximum of six months  Only Primary components are required to be a completer  Secondary components are made available for those who want to learn more

7 Structure cont.  Flexibly designed to each student ▫ Eligible to test out of components by passing a Pre-Assessment quiz with a score of 75% or higher

8  STUDENT SUPPORT: ▫ Available by phone & email from 8:00am - 4:30pm Mon.-Fri. ▫ Provide Help desk support for technical problems. ▫ Provide leads on job opportunities for enrollees who are near completion of the HITECH program. ▫ Assist Students With Job Search Skills ▫ Provide Career Advising Assistance

9  RESUME: ▫ Provide Resume Preparation Advise and Review With Feedback  BUILDERS: ▫ Granted a certificate of completion upon successful completion of role ▫ Sit for the National competency exam (HIT Pro) created by AHIMA – you do receive a certificate for passing the exam

11 PRACTICE WORKFLOW AND INFORMATION MANAGEMENT REDESIGN SPECIALISTS  Workers in this role assist in reorganizing the work of a provider to take full advantage of the features of health IT in pursuit of meaningful use of health IT to improve health and care  Individuals in this role may have backgrounds in health care or in information technology, but are not licensed clinical professionals

12 CLINICIAN/PRACTITIONER CONSULTANTS  This role brings to bear the background and experience of a professional licensed to provide clinical care or a public health professional  Individuals in this role will be licensed clinical or public health professionals; or in the case of public health, they would bring into the role significant experience in federal, state or local public health agencies

13 IMPLEMENTATION SUPPORT SPECIALISTS  Workers in this role provide on-site user support for the period of time before and during implementation of health IT systems in clinical and public health settings  Individuals training for this role will have a general background in information technology or health information management

14 IMPLEMENTATION MANAGERS  Workers in this role provide on-site management of mobile adoption support teams for the period of time before and during implementation of health IT systems in clinical and public health settings  Workers in this role will, prior to training, have experience in health and/or IT environments as well as some administrative or management experience

15 TECHNICAL/SOFTWARE SUPPORT STAFF  Workers in this role will support in an ongoing basis the technology deployed in clinical and public health settings. Maintain systems in clinical and public health settings, including patching and upgrading of software  Individuals training for this role will have a general background in information technology or health information management

16 TRAINERS  Workers in this role design and deliver training programs, using adult learning principles, to employees in clinical and public health settings  The previous background of workers in this role includes experience as a health professional, health information management specialist, or medical librarian. Experience as a trainer in the classroom is also desired
