1 LEMA Vision Mission and Student Learning Objectives (SLO) Competencies of the 21st century

2 LEMA Values ❖ We want STUDENTS who WANT to succeed and know what they want to do with their careers ❖ We want TEACHERS dedicated to giving the students the experience of the 21st century world, including the jobs that the students may work in and what to expect in college ❖ We want to get FAMILIES involved in the children’s education; we thank the families that trust us as educators

3 OUR VISION:OUR MISSION: ❖ To be a group of critical thinkers who want to achieve our goals in both life and school, in a culture where we grow, help, and become better at our activities as well as have those who are responsible and know about digital media graduate on time. ❖ To get students ready for media-based college learning and have them understand the importance of digital media in the 21st century careers that require hard work, but also allow for one to use their mind creatively to build skills, learn more, fix problems, and achieve our goals.

LEMA graduates will be CRITICAL THINKERS who can: ❖ Show their unique minds through problem solving, making educated guesses, the work you write, and your talent through technological and/or artistic means. ❖ Create opinions and be able to explain them using facts ❖ Use what they have learned for new situations ❖ Improve their performance to get the wanted result from other opinions and assessments. ❖ Use their knowledge from life to make information important

LEMA graduates will be EFFECTIVE COMMUNICATORS who can: ❖ LIsten, talk, read, and write well using basic English ❖ Speak comfortably with a group and give speeches/presentations ❖ Show work in different ways, including ones that use modern technology, drawing, speaking, and other types of presentation ❖ Do your fair share of work within your team

LEMA graduates will be RESPONSIBLE, SELF- DIRECTED INDIVIDUALS who can: ❖ Make big realistic career, and personal goals, and have a plan B behind that ❖ Show good studying and work habits, organization, and time management ❖ Show self-control, motivation, and show that you are willing to do the work necessary to succeed

LEMA graduates will be PRODUCTIVE COMMUNITY MEMBERS who: ❖ Do 20 hours of community service ❖ Show that they know of the current events and points of view from different cultures/societies ❖ Are honest ❖ Are aware of personal heritage and respect and thanks for our mixed community ❖ Understand and take part in the school governance process

LEMA graduates wil be MEDIA AND TECHNOLOGY LITERATE individuals who: ❖ Can create, examine, explain and use information, media, and technology well ❖ Understand how media messages are made, and what they’re used for ❖ Examine how people understand them in different ways, how important they can be when counted or ignored, and how media can affect people’s behavior and point of view ❖ Understand and use the best media creation tools and conventions ❖ Use digital technologies, communication/networking tools, and social networks to get into, take care of, explain, and create information to live well in a smart economy

9 ❖ In my Advanced Placement English Language class, we practice critical thinking when ➢ Analyzing and annotating essay prompts and passages ➢ Explaining how and why we chose the answers we chose ➢ We recognize invalid points when we see them

10 ❖ In Senior Seminar, we practice effective communication when ➢ applying for scholarships and colleges/universities ➢ Taking advantage of opportunities available in applying

11 ❖ In AP Government, we are proud to be productive community members when ➢ Paying attention to political issues and current events to keep up with our nation ➢ Sharing current events we have found individually

12 ❖ In all of our LEMA classes, we demonstrate literacy of media and mastery of technology when ➢ using different devices to present information ➢ research information and place them in our research assignments in a proper format
