{ Mormonism the Doris take on Mormonism

  The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS), more commonly known as the "Mormon" church, is a religion derived from Christianity that traces its origins to Joseph Smith. Smith said that heavenly messengers, including John the Baptist, visited him and conferred upon him the divine authority to perform valid Christian baptisms. Later, Smith introduced the practice of plural marriage as part of his desire to reintroduce all biblical practices into the modern world. Origin of Religion

{{ Joseph Smith Brigham Young Major Contributors

{{ Joseph Smith  Received several personal revelations after attending a religious revival and started his own church in which his members accepted him as a prophet. He urged them that it was Gods will for them to find a New Jerusalem. They moved from New York to Utah. Brigham Young  After Smith died Young replaced him, the members claimed he sounded like Smith saying it a heavenly manifestation that Young was to be the next leader. They made him the church president. He formally set up their “Zion” in Salt Lake City.

  General leadership   divisions similar to the SDA church divisions   Stakes   Wards   Bishop   Melchizedek Priesthood   Relief Society   Young Men +Young Women   Sunday School   Primary Church Structure

.  Mormons believe in a three-member Godhead that includes the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost.   However there are teachings that say there are many gods. Christianity teaches you cannot become a god. Mormonism says you can. In fact, Mormonism teaches that God used to be a man on another planet who became a god and brought one of his wives with him to this world. Deity

 According to them becoming a Mormon is an easy process, however to the common person Mormonism is a very exclusive religion.  In order to become a member a person must:  1.Study with missionaries  2.Meet Bishop  3.Pass interview to prove commitment to lifestyle  4.Be baptized  5.Receive the gift of the holy spirit by having someone from the priesthood laying their hands on you and bestowing the Holy Spirit upon you Membership process

 Without becoming a member a person cannot enter a Mormon temple and even then one must be temple worthy, which means you wear special under garments. These garments will protect you physically and spiritually, white symbolizes purity.  As a temple worthy member you will pay 10% of your income to the church.  Females in the religion are encouraged are encouraged not to pursue careers.

 God was once a man He has a body of flesh and bone and lives on a planet near the star Kolob. The sun gets its light from the Kolob. God has at least one wife, our "Mother in Heaven," but she is so holy that we are not to discuss her nor pray to her. We can become like God and rule over our own universe. There are many gods. In the highest degree of the celestial kingdom men have more than one wife. A righteous Mormon will see the face of God in the Mormon temple. If a Gentile becomes Mormon, the Holy Ghost actually purges his Gentile blood and replaces it with Israelite blood.  Jesus was married. Jesus and Satan are brothers, they are our brothers. Jesus was conceived by God by having sex with Mary. We are spirit children of Heavenly Father. The "Lord" in the Old Testament is Jesus in the New Testament, but different from "God the Father". Christ will not return to earth in any year that has seen a rainbow. Mormon teachings:

 Before coming to this earth we lived as spirits in a "pre- existence", in which we were tested. Dark skin is a curse from God, the result of our sin or our ancestors sin. If righteous, a dark-skinned person will become light- skinned. Not only will humans be resurrected to eternal life, but also all animals.  All humans before the Flood lived in the western hemisphere. The Ark transported Noah to the eastern hemisphere. Mormons should avoid traveling on water, Satan rules the waters. You can identify a false angel by the color of his hair, or by offering to shake his hand.  Confession of all serious sins to the clergy. Continued…

 Death is not the end. Death is really a beginning—another step forward in Heavenly Father’s plan for His children. Someday, like everyone else, your physical body will die. But your spirit does not die, it goes to the spirit world, where you will continue to learn and progress and may be with loved ones who have passed on.  Proxy baptism can be done for the person deceased. Life after death:

 Many Mormons have achieved fame in athletics. These include professional baseball players such as Dale Murphy, basketball players such as Danny Ainge, football players such as Steve Young, and golfers such as Johnny Miller. Mormons have also excelled in amateur sports, including athletes Henry Marsh, Doug Padilla, Ed Eyestone, and Jay Silvester in track and field. Celebrity members:

 Gladys Knight  Julianne Hough  Amy Adams  Ryan Gosling  Katherine Heigl  Aaron Eckhart  Paul Walker

{ Some of many… Interesting rules and traditions

  If you have dark skin and convert to Mormonism, your skin will begin to lighten/whiten   Love isn’t as strong between couples and families who are not LDS   Follow the prophet or leaders even if you think they are wrong   Heavenly Mother/Goddess exists, but she/them are too sacred to discuss and cannot be worshiped or prayed to   Kids or babies who die before reaching 8 years old are perfect and automatically get into heaven   A woman’s purpose in heaven is solely to birth endless babies to populate the worlds created by their husbands. Billions and billions of babies!   You can’t get into heaven without Joseph Smith’s permission   Hoard enough food, water and fuel to survive 3-12 months or more
