4 More & Less Developed Regions Fig. 9-11: The less developed regions include Latin America, Sub-Saharan Africa, Middle East, South Asia, East Asia, and Southeast Asia.

5 Regions of Development Most developed nations are above 30 degrees north on the map Most LDCs are below 30 degrees (with the South Pacific and island holdings of MDCs being the exceptions) This is called the north-south split Most of the differences are due to a milder climate above that line, fertile soil, ample access to water in most regions, good land for civilizations, etc… What else can you think of?
