2.  The Ten Commandments - also known as the decalogue or ten words.  They are a list of moral standards by which we can base our lives on, revealed to Moses by God in the books of Exodus and Deuteronomy.  The exact numbering of the commandments is not certain as it is not in scripture (Catholics number differently from Protestants and Jews.) 3. Beatitudes – the word beatitude means “blessing” or “promise of true happiness”.  They were given as directions for life in biblical times (like in the book of Proverbs).
