4 DEPARTMENT NAME Medical education has evolved from live personal communication and written information on paper to electronic communication, including E-mail, the internet, and social media. MEDICAL EDUCATION Many organizations and institutions have introduced electronic medical education platforms, including the American Academy of Pediatrics ELECTRONIC MEDICAL EDUCATION PLATFORMS

5 DEPARTMENT NAME Patient portals within the electronic medical record of many health institutions/hospitals allow for exchange of information between the patient and their medical providers. PATIENT PORTALS With the infinite number of resources accessible via the internet, it is imperative that we provide our patients and families accurate, peer reviewed and up to date information that is easily accessible. 6 DEPARTMENT NAME Texas Children’s Pediatrics has developed an app called….. The Parent Advice Center App. APP DEVELOPEMENT Provides our families access to a wide variety of informational and interactive services pertaining to the medical care of their children.

7 DEPARTMENT NAME THE PARENT ADVICE CENTER APP Is available for free on iTunes and Google Play, will help families make smart decisions about what level of care is needed for their child and how to provide symptom relief for minor illnesses or injuries at home. The new app also includes answers to common behavior and wellness questions, medication dosage tables, links to each Texas Children’s Pediatrics practice web page and maps to our Urgent Care locations.

8 DEPARTMENT NAME THE PARENT ADVICE CENTER APP Produced by StayWell, a leading provider of health education and engagement solutions, the app helps families better understand their children’s health symptoms. Will give parents the support and information they need to make timely decisions about the appropriate level of care for their child-whether that means providing care for minor illness at home or finding a Texas Children’s facility. Gives parents access to their child’s health records via the MyChart patient portal.

9 DEPARTMENT NAME THE PARENT ADVICE CENTER APP The clinical advice, validated by TCP leadership, is the same evidence-based, high-quality advice we already give patients, only now it will be available in a digital format around the clock. Has valuable features to include: Online symptom checker with access to 129 care guides, first-aid illustrations, parent message boards and over-the-counter medication guides. Access to MyChart patient portal for personal medical information and to manage relationships with Texas Children’s hospitals and clinics.

10 DEPARTMENT NAME THE PARENT ADVICE CENTER APP Ability to find a practice or care facility within the Texas Children’s Pediatrics system, from Urgent Care Centers to Emergency rooms or individual physicians. Most recent revision addresses when to seek care at Urgent Care versus an emergency center based on the presenting symptoms.

11 DEPARTMENT NAME THE PARENT ADVICE CENTER APP We have posters for our Parent Advice Center App located in all or our 52 Texas Children’s Pediatrics practice sites, as well as our 5 Texas Children’s Urgent Care sites. Our physicians and staff actively promote the app to our patients and families.
