Check the authorization for household goods shipments; start the prep for what to take. Explore Korean culture and foods in your hometown Receive your Government Issued Passport with A3 Visa before departing for Korea Check with your local Transportation Office for your vehicle entitlements and the Vehicle Processing Center location nearest you

Get a taste of your new garrison’s lifestyle by going to the IMCOM-Korea website and exploring each garrison ( Review Orders and ensure you are authorized to bring pets. Get a sponsor! Go online to DoDEA Korea and register your children for school (

9 Relocation Readiness Program
Arrival & Touch Down Prepare for long flights and travel times (10-16 hours) 1st Replacement Company (1RC) is the Airport Military Reception = mandatory check in for military members! Mandatory free military shuttle for military and Families (bring your car seats!!!). Civilians and Soldiers on TDY or leave is space available. Two forms of ID (passport + ID card) to enter post 20 minute check-in with 1RC before released to hotels for night.

Most will stay in USAG Yongsan during the in-processing phase Mandatory Soldier In-Processing program (Alpha ~Delta) Jet-lag for ALL! Prepare yourself! Transportation to other garrisons coordinated by 1RC at completion of Soldier In-Processing. Have a few “comfort” items for your children so that they can make their new environment feel like home.

Go to your ACS and sign up for FREE Cultural classes and the Garrison Newcomer’s Program; pick up a ACS Welcome Packet Apply for your Ration Control Card; until then use orders and ID Card to purchase at the Commissary and PX (valid only for two weeks). Get kids in the youth center and meeting others. If you haven’t already, enroll in DBIDS; transfer your TRICARE to Korea; get your SOFA Stamp Check with Housing for availability Meet your Unit’s NEO Warden and begin gathering family information

Vehicle Regulations Authorized Permanent Party in Korea must test for and obtain a drivers license to drive a vehicle in Korea Exceptions to policy are in paragraph 37 of USFK Regulation 190-1 Requirements and procedures for obtaining a drivers license in Korea are in Section III of USFK Reg Shipping a vehicle must be listed on orders To download Driver’s Test visit IMCOM Website provided in HO3

All Service members bringing school-aged Family members to Korea must visit the Department of Defense Dependent Schools in Korea (DODDS-K) website to pre-register each school-aged Family member prior to arriving in Korea Once your Family members arrive in Korea, you must complete the registration process in the area by dropping off paperwork and files at the school. Communication South Korea is one of the most “wired” nations; keeping in touch with Family and friends back home with Digital Internet is easy. Voice Over IP (VOIP) is common; many services to choose from. Cell Phones and cell plans are fabulous! Social Network Services abound (FACEBOOK, etc. are compatible) Many Korean Information Websites have toggle buttons that change the page into many different languages – not just English. The garrison has US Postal Service.

Medical Care TRICARE Prime for all Family members command sponsored to Korea; Families can opt for TRICARE Standard if they wish. The Brian Allgood Army Community Hospital (121 CSH) provides a full compliment of medical care options for Families assigned to Korea. Each military installation will have a Family Care Clinic. 20 Relocation Readiness Program Status of Forces Agreement
(SOFA) Bi-lateral international agreement that defines legal rights and obligations of the parties of Republic of Korea and the U.S. All SOFA personnel are required to comply with and respect Korean Law All SOFA personnel are subject to Korean criminal jurisdiction Violations of ROK law may also result in U.S. adverse actions including early return of dependents.

Law Enforcement Military personnel must comply or be subject to UCMJ action; others who violate the off limits policy may have privileges revoked Establishments are placed off limits in the interest of the safety and well being of USFK personnel Directed in USFK Command Policy Letter #8, Legal Drinking Age for assigned personnel = 21 years of age
