11 Faculty of Transport and Mechanical Engineering (FTME) Travelling, increasing mobility and use of sophisticated mechanisms in our daily life are just a few of the challenges offered by the 20th and 21st century. Persons’ mobility and comfort to a great extent depend on the means of transport and technologies. The Faculty is the successor of the Department of Mechanical Engineering of the Riga Polytechnic established in 1864. Today FTME is one of the biggest faculties at RTU. The persons who would like to undertake their studies at FTME are offered a wide choice of study programs and specializations suiting their interests and abilities.

12 Faculty of Transport and Mechanical Engineering (FTME) FTME integrates: Institute of Mechanics; Institute of Production Quality; Institute of Mechanical Engineering Technologies; Institute of Biomedical Engineering and Nanotechnologies; Institute of Aviation; Institute of Road Transport: Institute of Railway Transport; Institute of Transport Vehicle Technologies.
