3 What’s the difference? Herbivore – an animal that eats only plants (rabbits) Carnivore - meat-eating animal (lion) Omnivore - a consumer that eats both plants and animals Scavengers - eat the remains of dead animals (vultures) Decomposers- consumers, usually bacteria and fungi that break down plant and animal wastes and return the nutrients to the soil Primary consumer - only eats plants Secondary consumer - eat primary consumers

4 Food Web Food web – is a group of connected food chains in an ecosystem –Most organisms eat more than one type of food

5 Energy Pyramid Energy pyramid- shows that energy is lost at each level of the food chain.
