A character trait is a way to describe 4 what a character is like. Examples: brave, friendly, mean, shy, grumpy, bossy, etc. Setting is where the story takes place. Examples: the forest, school, a farm, the desert, a store, etc. Mood is how the story and the illustration make you feel. Examples: scared, excited, happy, sad, bored, etc. An illustration is a picture or drawing in a book.  An illustration contributes 2 to the character traits, setting, and mood of a story.  An illustration contributes to what is conveyed 3 by words in a story.
