2 Adjectives—modify/describe nouns and pronouns --answer the questions How many? How much? What kind? Which one? Ex: sweet candy, the blue sweater, the obnoxious student, chocolate cake, sixteen candles What kind of candy? Which sweater? Which student? What kind of cake? How many candles?

3 Adverbs—modify/describe verbs, adjectives, and other adverbs --answer the questions When? Where? Why? How? To what extent? Ex: He arrived late. We went home. Bobby ran slowly. The puppy is too cute. He was so very late. Arrived when? Went where? Ran how? How cute? Late to what extent?
