1 Embedding YouTube into PowerPoint 1. Open a new PowerPoint 2. SAVE IT TO YOUR H:drive 1. CLICK file 2. CLICK save AS 3. Navigate to your H:drive 4. Name your file

2 Videos Where possible: use videos from Safari Montage, schooltube, Discovery learning and link to them in your PowerPoint YouTube: 1. Find an appropriate video on YouTube that enhances your topic (no video just to have one) 2. Copy the URL from the address bar. It begins with http://

3 Control toolbar 1. Select a slide in PowerPoint for your Movie. 2. Open the Control Toolbox 1. Click View 2. Click toolbars 3. Click control toolbox 4. Click the hammer in the bottom right of the toolbox right of the toolbox

4 Control Toolbox 1. Select Shockwave Flash Object 2. Click and drag on your slide to create a box for the movie. 1. The Box will be white with an X through it. 2. You can resize the box with the circle anchors on the corners

5 1.Right-click on the white box 2.Select Properties

6 Properties 1. Paste in the URL in the Movie field 2. Resize the properties box so you can see the whole URL 3. Delete watch? 4. Delete = 5. Put a / where the = was 6. Now it should read /v/

7 Saving and Viewing 1. Close the Properties box 2. SAVE your presentation 1. It was previously saved so all you need to do is: 1. Click FILE 2. Click SAVE Your movie will not show in the EDITING pane. You need to click VIEW, Slideshow to see the movie. Make sure you cite your video source on the PowerPoint! See next slide

8 Citing your Video YouTube video For videos, provide the author only if you are sure that person created the video. Do not list the person posting the video online as the author. If you are unsure, treat the citation as having no author. Follow the same standards for a regular web source with author, title of post, Online Posting, sponsor (YouTube), date of access, medium, date of access, and URL.
