7 Anne Bradstreet Born in England, 1612, moved to America in 1630. She was very educated. Had 6 children, and suffered from many health problems. Anne’s poetry was not meant to be read by other people. It was always written for herself or her family. Her work was published in 1650, which made her the first poet and first woman published in the British colonies. What do you know about the role of women in this time? How do you think other people viewed Anne at the time?
