6 You’ve completed the 3 observation cycles… now what? If the teacher did not meet the requirements for the Q-Comp incentive: o Inform teacher of their options - Re-do observation to meet requirements File an appeal within two weeks of post observation. Steering Committee dates are March 29 and April 28, with additional dates in May & June TBD.

7 Appeals Process As stated in the QComp Plan: The QComp Steering Committee will review all appeals. All appeals will be submitted in writing to the QComp Administrator, including specific concerns and rationale describing the discrepancy. Appeals may occur after Observation/Evaluation #1 and after Observation/Evaluation #3.

8 Appeals Process The Steering Committee may decide to: uphold the Decision of the Evaluator. reverse the Decision of the Evaluator. require a redo of the observation.

9 Tips to Avoid Appeals If a teacher doesn’t pass an observation, be sure to: Clearly document evidence for areas missed in AHEP In the post conference, communicate to the teacher that the observation did not meet the standard Document that all steps of the process have been followed

13 Scoring the Student Achievement Goals (SAG) (green handouts) Important things to know… Teachers can re-write their goal. Some teachers may have changed their goal without your knowledge. Which one will you score? (Remember…it’s about the discussion and the reflection!) Some teachers may score “Distinguished” in all five SAG components, but may not receive their Q Comp incentive because they didn’t meet their goal. (Especially if it is tiered!)

21 Looking Forward Administrative survey, followed by site visits as part of Q Comp Program Review. Program “tweaks” as determined by survey results. Ongoing rater calibration training (Student Achievement Goals and 4 Domains) Continued updates on AHEP.
