6. Endocrine System It all starts with the hypothalamus and pituitary gland: – Hypothalamus controls the pituitary gland. – Pituitary controls water and salt balance, which can affect things such as diabetes, and it secretes growth hormones, which can lead to dwarfism or gigantism. 5/8
