2. Robert Cohn, an insecure man, is incapable of accepting reality. Robert Cohn does not want to acknowledge that his only friend, is indifferent towards him.

4. Robert Cohn and Jake Barnes have been friends for a long time. Yet it had never developed into a real friendship. Robert Cohn believes that Jake is his best friend, but Jake is rather jealous of him.

5. An Englishwoman named Brett who is loved by many men including Jake. Brett is an alcoholic who is never committed to any relationships. Incapable of truly loving someone.

6. Jake has a hard time letting go of Brett. He is impotent in having a relationship physically and emotionally.

7. Jake and Brett are neither friends or foes. Jake is the one who has an one sided relationship with Brett. What will happen to Jake and Brett’s relationship? Will it fall apart or will it last?
