2 1. Slavery is Abolished (in Britain) Because some were morally against slavery (think it’s just wrong) And because others thought slavery was an economic threat (threat to their jobs) Slavery abolished in 1833

3 2. Women fight for rights During the IR, women worked outside the home (for the first time) – Made 1/3 of the money that men did – Criticized for stepping outside their normal role in the home Women also formed organizations and fight for voting rights, public education, and prison reform.

4 3. Literature changes because of the Industrial Revolution EX: Charles Dickens (1812- 1870) Writer of books like Oliver Twist Wrote about effects of industrialization – Emphasized poverty of working class
