2  SATS stands for Standard Assessment Tasks.  Based specifically around the new National Curriculum 2014 objectives.  More challenging with higher standards and expectations than last years  National tests are taken by all year 6 pupils.  Teacher assessment of the new National Curriculum standards from year 3 to year 5.

3  Week beginning Monday 9th May  Meeting nearer the time about the week itself

5  English Writing (teacher assessed/moderated by external moderators from LEA)

6  English Spelling, grammar and punctuation (SPaG) Spellings 20 words - 20 minutes (close procedure style, teacher reads) 20 marks Grammar and Punctuation 45 minutes - 50 marks – 49 questions Total Marks - combined SPaG 70 marks Secure - Maybe 35-40 (old 4B)

7 Maths Arithmetic Test A Test 30 minutes - 36 questions – 40 marks Reasoning Test B Test 40 minutes -20 questions - 35 marks Reasoning Test C Test 40 minutes – 20 questions – 35 marks Total Marks – 110 Possible Secure Mark – 55-60??? 8  We practise! We have already worked through a number of newly create papers.  Covered all necessary topics in lessons, making learning fun and hands on.  Regular informal assessments to make sure they are on track and spot any problems.  Small group work with targeted pupils to tackle issues during assemblies and lessons.  Past questions to help children with SATs wording.  Encouraged them to ask for questions to be read to them.  Encouraged them to talk about any worries or issues they have.  Preparing SATs tutor groups after school and a SATs holiday club at Easter

9  Reading - weekly  Writing – specific to genre of writing  Maths - weekly  How are the targets set?

10 English  Support them with the new homework booklets - follow the guides to use the correct methods  Support their spelling and vocabulary – use dictionaries to explain words when reading  Ensure your child is reading every night for 20 minutes  Log on to Bug Club  BBC revisewise

11 Maths  Support them with the new homework booklets – follow the guides to use the correct methods  Practise arithmetic maths activities and KIRFs  Log on to My Maths and Purple Mash  BBC revise wise  Twinkle (excellent practice material)  Maths Magician  Conker Maths
