3 Lab-level Research and Development Question: Can the FRAMES integration method be compatible with modern System-Biology scientific knowledge? Simulation is common but not with tools like FORTRAN but with tools like MatLab, Mathematica, Maple, and SciLab. Why Scilab? Free for non-commercial use and as powerful as MatLab.

8 To connect to FRAMES we need to either: 1)provide file that can be written by FRAMES, 2) have FRAMES write values to the script directly using tools like BPP, or 3) have a library set written for the specific tool to facilitate use in the environment (equivalent to a language specific interface). For the purpose of this demonstration we use #1. We still need at least some Java code to make it work.

Now the module can be used in tandem with an air source, and a lung deposition model from CIIT. The output of the lung deposition is written to the input of cell model.
