Make Beliefs Comix is a Web 2.0 tool that educators can use to enhance learning in their classroom. This tool uses the appeal of comics to education’s advantage by allowing teachers and students to create comics in relation to the subject matter being taught. Comics have been associated as a non-educational source for quite some time, but Make Beliefs Comix merges the simplicity and light-hearted fun of comics with more serious learning.

Students can create a comic about themselves and share with classmates to encourage social interaction. Teachers can recreate favorite tales from storybook time with a comic book twist. Teachers can have students make a comic with new vocabulary words, so they learn them in a meaningful context.

Use the comics to teach autistic children about social behavior and interpret emotions by studying the facial expressions of the characters in the comics. "I used the comic strips to create social stories focusing on behaviors we want to modify.” – says one teacher.

. Introduce creative writing Put a spin on a classic story (at any grade) such as, Brown Bear, Brown Bear, The Great Gatsby, To Kill A Mockingbird, or a Shakespeare play. You can still use it for other subjects at any grade level!

Make Beliefs Comics also lets you create the comic in Spanish, Italian, German, Portuguese, and even Latin! Students can practice conversational skills and vocabulary in foreign languages.
