FLUX This tool is used to define a surface heat flux load Use create button to define varying surface heat flux based on element centroid. A positive value indicates that heat flow into the surface Application | Analysis | Thermal | Flux

FLUX (Using Field Table) While using table we need XYZ values for each element. 1.Go to Application/FEM 2.Choose Export Nodes/elements 3.Select the faces and click ok 4.XYZ values for each elements in the selected face is stored in text file ( *.CSV)

4 Copyright © 2012 Altair Engineering, Inc. Proprietary and Confidential. All rights reserved. FLUX (Using Field Table) XYZ values for each element in the selected face is exported. Element ID is present in the First column and XYZ values are present in the remaining columns. Element ID is not needed in the Field table so delete that column.

5 Copyright © 2012 Altair Engineering, Inc. Proprietary and Confidential. All rights reserved. FLUX (Using Field Table) After deleting the Element ID column the XYZ values are present. Enter the Heat Flux value in the Next column.

6 Copyright © 2012 Altair Engineering, Inc. Proprietary and Confidential. All rights reserved. FLUX (Using Field Table) Click the create option. Field table editor dialog will open. Click the import option and choose the CSV file. XYZ value for each element and Flux value is displayed in the table. Now click ok. Select the faces choose the field table and click apply. Flux is applied in that face.

7 Copyright © 2012 Altair Engineering, Inc. Proprietary and Confidential. All rights reserved. FLUX (Using Field Table) Now Double click the Flux in the LBC tree. Flux dialog will open. Click the Modify option in the Flux dialog. Field table editor will appear. Click the Plot option and select the contour option. Specify the needed tolerance to plot the contour. This tolerance is used as search tolerance to fetch nearest data for an element. The contour spectrum is displayed on that face.

Use create button to define Film coefficient and skin temperature based on element centroid / element nodal. Face or body can be selected to define convection on surface (Application |Analysis |Thermal |Convection

Click the import option and choose the CSV file. XYZ value for element centroid and Film coefficient and Skin temperature value is displayed in the table. Click ok Select the faces. Click Apply. Convection Load will be applied on that face.
