3 Statement of the Problem Traditional written reports do not allow for creativity Students don’t retain information Students need to incorporate 21 st century learning skills Finding time to infuse technology skills into the classroom is limited

4 Background and Need Students need to share a perspective/point of view It helps improve writing skills by having students write in a concise way It encourages research and organizational skills It is a way to motivate and differentiate instruction

5 Purpose of the Project To increase self-motivation in learning Practice problem solving Generate interest in other students to learn more Encourage artistic skills in Language Arts Use technology to learn and share information Increase writing, speaking, and organizational skills

6 Project Objectives Increase student motivation and interest in sharing what they have learned Expand student participation, development, and presentation of content knowledge Develop understanding of multimedia technology and be able to apply it effectively

7 Definition of Terms Digital Story Telling: A student created story that incorporates multi media use of images, voice, written text, and music into a concise narrative to be shared electronically. 21 st Century learning skills: in addition to traditional core content skills, thinking, problem-solving, information, collaboration, and communication skills. Digital Native: refers to a generation born into the digital technology era and through interacting with digital technology from an early age, has a greater understanding of its concepts. Digital Immigrant: an individual who was introduced to digital technology later in their life. ICT- Information and Communication Technologies.

8 Summary Digital Technology increases student motivation to learn and share and lead to a deep understanding of their learning It provides differentiated alternatives to meet all students’ needs Increases students creative abilities to share what they’ve learned
