2.  The Great Pacific Garbage Patch, also described as the Pacific Trash Vortex.  The Patch is made up of really high concentrations of plastics, chemical sludge, and other debris that have been trapped by the currents of the North Pacific Gyre.

3.  Despite its size and density, the patch is not visible from satellite photography.  This patch is actually two of the largest garbage accumulations in the Pacific Ocean.

4.  There are actually two distinct areas, also called the Western Pacific Garbage Patch and the Eastern Pacific Garbage Patch.  Both of these areas in the Pacific Ocean are full of garbage, millions of tons of it, and a large amount of this garbage is plastic, which will not degrade.
