2 What is a hurricane? A hurricane is a non-frontal low-pressure system. They are over tropical or sub-tropical waters. Hurricanes also have circular wind movement. They are measured with the Saffir-Simpson Scale.

3 What is a blizzard? O A blizzard is a long snowstorm with strong winds and intense snowfall.

4 How much time to prepare for hurricanes. O 36 hours if it is a watch O 24 hours if it is a warning.

5 How much time to prepare for a blizzard. O Winter storm outlook 2-5 days O Watch 36-48 hours O Warning less than 24 hours

6 Safety steps in case of a hurricane. O leave low lying areas O protect windows O have enough food, water, and fuel O secure objects outside O if called to evacuate do it immediately

7 Safety steps for blizzards. O keep a full gas tank O insulate your home by putting in storm windows O If you are going away, leave the heat at home no lower than 55°F
