1 WaG 9 – Apostrophes When do you use apostrophes correctly?

2 Please look carefully at the following samples to determine what you notice about apostrophes. What writing or grammar rules can you identify?  She has to feed Lauren’s cat.  Derek may have left his shoes in the boys’ locker room.  Although they look similar, this bag is his and that bag is yours.

3 Apostrophes  Use to show ownership with singular nouns  Bobby’s baseball  my sister’s friend  Put ‘s or ‘ at the end of the plural noun  the Chois’ car  the children’s songs  Girls’ Basketball Team  DON’T use with possessive pronouns  Is this house yours?  Give the dog its medicine, please.

8 WaG Quiz 9  Write a short paragraph on any topic of your choice.  Please include and highlight at least 3 different correct uses of apostrophes.
