2. Tip#1 run, take the stairs ! as you run.... keep your mind calm and think of what will be your first action as you walk into the room “I will walk into room, identify myself and ask what happened then check vitals/pulse”

3. Tip #2 identify yourself as the code leader stand at the footend of the bed, take command!

4. Tip #3 – Tackle the basics First questions to ask… Who saw what happened? What are the vitals now? Do we have a pulse?

5. Basics - CAB (not ABC) updated ACC guidelines 2010 C circulation (is there a pulse? BP?) A airway (position, choking? is anesth here? do we need intubation?) B breathing (someone please bag. sats ok?) D defibrillator (keep it close)

8. Tip #4 Appoint specific people to specific tasks

9. Tip #5 talk out loud! (whatever you are thinking- let everyone hear so they know what is going through your head..... interpret vitals, intial assessment etc etc)

10. Tip #6 after 2 mins of CPR, check rhythm

11. Secondary ABCD A ?intubate B ?position of ETT (continue to bag; keep sats >90-95%) C CPR (access? pressors?) D ddx (look for reversible causes 5Hs and 5Ts)
