2 Background Founded in 1936 to protect the economic and creative rights of directors in motion pictures. Now represents Directors, Assistant directors, Unit Production Managers, Associate Directors, Stage Managers, and Production Associates worldwide. 15,000 members

3 Economic Rights- Negotiates agreements with minimum salary, benefits, working conditions, and duties. Creative Rights- Guaranteed the right to be active in all pieces of the filmmaking process.

4 Pension and Health Plan- Among the best offered anywhere when you meet the minimum earnings each year. Residuals- DGA contracts provide the right to payment for use of films and most TV series beyond their original release.

5 Contractual and Legal Protection- The Guild represents members in enforcing their creative and economic rights. Special Events- The DGA hosts seminars, workshops, and culture events each year. Screenings- The Guild operates its own theatrical screening program.
