3 He is in Year 2 His attendance is always around 90%. He and his family think this is pretty good. 90% attendance means that he is absent from lessons for the equivalent of one half day every week. In Year 2 he missed the equivalent of four whole weeks (half a term) If he continues this pattern then over five years he will miss the equivalent of about one half of a school year

8 Holidays in Term Time at Longlevens Infant School To ensure the maximum learning opportunities for all of our pupils we request that every effort be made to avoid taking family holidays in term time. If this is not possible, a holiday form should be completed by the parent/carer with day-to-day care, no more than 6 weeks and no less than 2 weeks before the planned absence. The head teacher will consider the request carefully, including previous attendance records, the pupil’s age and stage of education before notifying parents/carers whether the holiday can be authorised. Please note authorisation will not be given for holidays over exam times and no more than 10 school days will be allowed unless the circumstances are truly exceptional. For further information see the School’s Attendance Policy
