7. Steps for connecting books to primary sources: 1. Select a topic you will be studying in your classroom 2. Choose a book that aligns with your topic and is appropriate with your grade level 3. Before reading the book as a class discuss its historical setting 4. As you read the book the 2 nd time go through and compile a list of for people, dates, events and mark ones that could have primary source connections (could use post-it notes) 5.
