2 Here’s the Idea In order to share ideas and information successfully, you need to use complete sentences A sentence is a group of words that expresses a complete thought.

3 Look at this group of words. lost her slipper Cinderella These words cannot get a message across unless they have a structure. Cinderella lost her slipper. Notice that now that same group of words communicates a message.

4 Every complete sentence has two basic parts. 1. The complete subject includes all the words that tell whom or what the sentence is about. 2. The complete predicate includes the verb and all the words that tell about the verb. The glass slipper fits only one person.The glass slipper Complete Subject fits only one person Complete Predicate

5 How do I find the complete subject? To find the complete subject, ask who or what does something (or is something). The prince searches for its owner. Who or what searches for its owner? The Princeis the complete subject.

6 How do I find the complete predicate? To find the complete predicate, ask what the subject does (or is). The prince searches for its owner. What does the prince do? Searches for its owneris the complete predicate.
