2 Main features of the year Keeping the show on the road Preparing for the health gain/Make Every Contact Count programme Programmes to tackle early diagnosis/cancer prevention – “Don’t be a cancer chancer” etc Infant feeding strategy launched Mental well being strategy in development New Pathfinder health and well being board in place to be supported by an Integrated Commissioning Board A background of major change Health and Social Care Bill – paused and reviewed by the Future Forum Major restructure of the NHS – development of NHS Greater Manchester (the cluster) GP Consortium prepares to become an authorised clinical commissioning group – Hundreds Health Salford Public sector reform programme – supporting integrated working including development plans for an Integrated Commissioning Hub Think Local Act Personal - further roll out of personalisation in social care

3 How do we compare with our neighbours within AGMA and other similar authorities? Performing well on – life expectancy, immunisations and vaccinations, smoking quits –Life expectancy gap is narrowing – on target –Smoking performance is on track –Healthy weight – 9.8% of 4-5 year olds are obese – but this doubles by year 6 More to do on: alcohol admissions, vascular screening programmes, bowel cancer screening roll out –Infant feeding – off track on breastfeeding initiation and 6-8 weeks –Alcohol – narrowly missed 2010-2011 target – considering relationship between availability and consumption –Teenage conceptions – down but still a challenge
