1. Draw a fish if the answer is true. Some fishermen left their two boats by the water’s edge. While in the boat, Jesus preached to the people. Key Point: What did Jesus teach at the Sea of Galilee? Jesus taught God’s Word and that he is the promised Savior.

3. When Jesus finished preaching, he told Simon (Peter) to push out into deep water and let down the nets. What unspoken promise was in Jesus’ words? What did Jesus know would happen when Peter listened to him? Simon would catch fish. 4. How did Simon show that although conditions were unfavorable he had faith in Jesus’ promise? Fill in the blanks. Unfavorable conditions: Simon said they had fished all night and had caught nothing. Faith in Jesus’ promise: Because Jesus said so, Simon let down the nets.

5. In what order did these events happen? 1. Simon and his partners caught nothing all night. 2. Jesus told Simon Peter to push out and let down his nets to catch fish. 3. Simon Peter did what Jesus commanded and caught a large number of fish. 4. The nets began to break 5. Both boats were so full that they began to sink.

 Key Point: What kind of fishermen did Jesus call Peter, James, and John to become?  Jesus wanted them to be fishers of people, catching them with God’s powerful word. Discuss: Why would we want everyone to know about God’s love for us? Agree or disagree: Anyone can be a disciple of Jesus.

Aim: What did Jesus want Peter, James, and John to do? Truth: Jesus wanted Peter, James, and John to catch people with his powerful Word. Application: Jesus wants us to spread his powerful Word and tell others about him. Response: We eagerly use God’s powerful Word to tell others about Jesus.

 Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. And forgive us our sins, as we forgive those who sin against us. Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil For the kingdom, and the power, and the glory are yours now and forever. Amen
