3 1. INTRODUCTION  Incubators have been flourishing around the world. At present, China has more over 600, India more than 200, Brazil over than 150.  New challenges in global era : expanding the market across the border for SMEs, incubator clients. 9/7/20113Hadi K Purwadaria

DEFINITIONS  Incubatee : SME who is recruited by a primary business and technology incubator in an economy, and who has a plan to expand its business across the border.  Primary Incubator : incubator in an economy who recruited an incubatee, and takes the initiative to find incubator in another economy for a co-incubation program in facilitating the incubatee.  Co-incubator : incubator who accepts the initiative from the primary incubator at the other economy, and will operate the co-incubation program together with the primary incubator in facilitating the incubatee 9/7/20115Hadi K Purwadaria

SCOPES  Expanding the business for the incubatees from the primary incubator: products, technologies, and services.  Improved products for the incubatees at the co-incubator : quality, packaging, delivery time.  Production of new products at new business environment.  Providing investment for incubatees at the co- incubator. 9/7/20116Hadi K Purwadaria

ADVANTAGES OF CO-INCUBATION  Expanding the incubatees’ business across the border.  Preparation for soft landing of incubatees from the primary incubator to the business environment at the economy of the co-incubator.  Technology transfer between the incubatees at the primary incubator to the incubatees at the co-incubator.  Investment network between the incubatees at the primary incubator to the incubatees at the co-incubator.  Synergism among the incubatees at the primay incubator with the incubatees at the co-incubator. 9/7/20117Hadi K Purwadaria
