Our Learning Targets S3CS3. b. I can use computers for observing, measuring, and using objects in science activities to get information. S3CS5. d. I can communicate scientific ideas and activities clearly and find information in reference books and on computers. S3E1. b. I can explore the physical features of rocks, observing shape, color, and texture, and hardness. ELAGSE3W2: I can write informative texts to explain a topic and share ideas and information clearly. ELAGSE3W6: I can use technology to produce and publish writing (using keyboarding skills) as well as to interact and collaborate with others. ELAGSE3W7: I can do a short research project that builds knowledge about a topic. ELAGSE3W8: I can recall information from experience or gather information from print and digital sources. ELAGSE3SL4: I can report on a topic with appropriate facts and relevant details. ELAGSE3SL5: I can create engaging audio recordings poems that demonstrate fluid reading at an understandable pace; add visuals when needed to show certain facts and details.

What is a Rock? A rock is a naturally formed solid made of grains of one or more minerals. Rocks have all different kinds of colors, luster, and hardnest. The bottom of the ocean has rocks too. The moon has rocks also.

Sedimentary Rocks Sedimentary are from form by pieces of sand in layers, under a lot of pressure. Sedimentary rocks formed when mud and sand are deposited in layers on the earth's surface. Sedimentary rocks are found covering a majority of the earth's upper crust. No new damage, more particles broken off. Rock that forms from material that has settled into layers is called sedimentary rock. Wind and water carry small bits of rock. Layers of these bits of become sedimentary rock. Click to add text

Sedimentary Rocks

Gypsum Gypsum is found in Carrara, Italy. How would you describe this sedimentary rock?

Metamorphic Rocks A metamorphic rock has been changed by hgih heat or preessure. Metamorphic rock forms deep in earth's crust. The pressure and temperature there change rock into metamorphic rock. Metamorphic rocks are inside the earth.it was hot there. The ground above pressed down.the heat and pressure formed a metamorphic rock.

Metamorphic rocks

Marble This rock is found inAlabama, Colorado, Montana, Tennessee, Texas, and Vermont Insert picture of the rock How would you describe this metamorphic rock?

Igneous Rocks A N IGNEOUS ROCK IS A ROCK THAT COMES OUT A VOLCANO AND COOLS DOWN. WIN YOU BURN A ROCK THAT MEANS IT WILL TURNS IN TO A IGNEOUS ROCK. A N IGNEOUS ROCK IS FOUND ON EARTH SURFES. A N I GNEOUS ROCK MAKES C OLE. A N I GNEOUS IS GRANITE OTHER I GNEOUS ROCKS COOLS MORE SLOWLY AND HAVE LARGE GRANITES.

Igneous rocks

Dunite This is fund in Ultar-mafic. How would you describe this i gneous rock?

Habit 6: Synergize Rocks can synergize... So can we!
